Every day is truly a gift.....John and I spent last week in Jacksonville Beach helping Jennifer, Chris and the girls as they settled into their new house. Their new home is open, airy, beautiful and 2 blocks to the beach!! The girls are doing great.....enjoying their new playroom, the sand, the ocean...and life!!! Jennifer and Chris unpacked quickly....ready to start this new chapter in their life. I drove a Penske 12' truck from Pensacola to Jax Beach with furniture from Jennifer's Grandparents house in Ripon, Wisconsin. John drove over a few days later. We truly enjoyed our time with the Geric family!
We are getting settled into our new home. Yesterday our dear friend and priest Russell Levenson blessed our home. He is such a blessing in our lives and will be missed when he and his family move to Houston in 2 weeks.
So, enjoy the day for it is truly a gift. ~~Libby~~

Another gift of another day...
Yesterday was Father's Day. All of John's kids called....Susan from Houston, Jennifer from Ft. Lauderdale and Mike who currently lives in Iraq working as a government contract employee. It was a joy for John to talk to each of his kids. Now the word "kids" is a bit odd as all are adults...but once a kid, always a kid!!! John is a wonderful father, step-father, father-in-law, grandfather...a great role model for anyone striving to be a good parent.
Enjoy the day:
1 - enjoy your kids
2 - enjoy your family
3 - enjoy the heat of the summer days
4 - enjoy the beauty of God's day
Blessings, Libby

Every day is a gift
Today is Saturday, June 9, 2007. The weather was nice this morning, a bit hot this afternoon and a late afternoon shower helped cool down the summer heat. John and I worked outside for a couple of hours this morning. Our landscaping is coming along nicely....lots of work....worth the aches and pains when all is in bloom, growing green and looking nice!!
Great news from Jenni......they have found a very nice house to rent in Ponte Vedra. We are heading over there to assist in the move....and vacation....AND help take care of the girls!!! Should be a good time. It's interesting to see how each is developing their own special personality. We are looking forward to the 6 hour drive....I-10 East to 95 South. Much easier than 11 hours to Ft. Lauderdale!! We don't mind road trips.....it is going to be nice having them closer to us.
My mother is not doing well. It's so hard watching, listening, worrying, loving.......she's been through so much and it just isn't getting better for her. Joanne is the main caretaker. It is hard.... For those of you reading my blog, please keep my mother Martha Tiernan in your prayers.
Each day is a gift....hope you enjoyed the gift of this day. Blessings, Libby

every day is a gift
Every day is a gift...
Today is Wednesday, June 6, 2007. The time is 6:55AM. The sun is shining, humidity is a bit high, wind is about 10mph out of the South, temperature is in the high 70's heading up to the low 90's later today. All in all, a very nice day ahead.
On Monday I played/sang for the funeral of a friend and former piano student, Bea Holston. It is such an honor and pleasure to do the music for a friends funeral...also very hard...so it was "game face" time. Her granddaughters were there...I taught them piano several years. Courtney and Peyton have grown into such lovely young ladies, each living the life they envisioned. I remember when I was taller than both of them..now I stand a bit shorter than both!!
John and I continue to work on our new home. It is so good to be in a place we call our home. There is still a lot of work to be done. Slowly but surely our builders punch list and our own punch list will be completed. I'll be sure to let y'all know!!
John spent a few days last weekend with Jennifer, Chris, Ella and Audrey. Chris graduated from his Endo program. Way to go Chris!! It was a lot of work, required an enormous amount of focus (and smarts!!)....you did it!!! Now they are getting ready to move to Ponte Vedra. So instead of being 11 hours away, they will be 6!!! This makes for a very happy Grandma and Grandpa!! We will be going to Ponte Vedra to help them move in (mostly to be with grandkids while the parents unpack!!)....we're pretty smooth with unpacking..we will be there to help with whatever they need.
I have spent quite a bit of time recently thinking about all the friends I have not been in touch with since Hurricane Ivan tore through our home. I pray that our friends understand our not being the greatest communicators for the past 2 years and months.
Beyond losing our home, several family members died.....Libby's father died Sept 21, 2006; John's dad died Oct 7, 2006; Libby's Aunt Dolores died Dec 31, 2006. Additionally, Libby has spent a lot of time in Maryland helping take care of her mother. In 2006, Libby was there for 90 days. So, dear friends, please know that we have thought about you, remembered great times, kept up to date with your lives through Jennifer. Liz, Irv, Judy, Rich...your friendships over the many, many years is so very special to us. All of us have gained new family through marriages, births.....lost loved ones - some that lived long fruitful lives and others that were here for only a very short while. So, the Christmas cards that weren't sent, phone calls not made were not purposefully left undone....we all do what we can when situations are "tough". So, dear friends, every day is a gift and we cherish you all so much. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers ......
Every day is a gift...enjoy opening the gift of this day.

Memorial Day
Every day is a gift ....
Today is Memorial Day 2007. May we all remember the brave women and men who have given their lives in service of our country. May we all remember their families in our thoughts and prayers.
Today I am singing The National Anthem for the Memorial Day ceremony at Naval Air Station Pensacola. I have sung at this ceremony for many years. It is always an honor....it is always sad....it is always moving....it is always thought provoking.... it is always the right thing to do.
God Bless America....God bless our troops.....God bless us all.
Enjoy the gift of this special day. ~~Libby~~
